Tomorrow = Mega Excitement

September 24, 2010

I am officially predicting that tomorrow is going to be great.

Really though, tomorrow is a very exciting day.

For starters, I get to go out to sushi lunch with my fabulous boss, and maybe some of my other lovely coworkers too.  There was no sushi during the Eat Local Challenge and my mouth is watering at the thought of veggie tempura and spicy salmon rolls. Definitely exciting.

Later in the day, I get to go to Graze, where I ate all kinds of yumminess last month.  I’ll be joining the new REAP AmeriCorps members, Farm to School Program Director Lisa Jacobson, and some other people who I really like and eating free fancy food.  That is also very exciting.

But what I am really excited about is that…

I, Stephanie, actually get to meet the Renegade Lunch Lady herself, who is a revolutionary leader in the school lunch reform movement.  She is smart, she is sassy, and she is coming to Madison for this year’s REAP Food For Thought Festival.  The event at Graze is a reception before her talk/forum at the University.  On Saturday she will give her keynote address at the actual festival, followed by an “Iron Chef” school lunch competition and a book signing.  You can bet your buttons that my worn and water rippled copy of Lunch Lessons will be one of the books that gets signed on Saturday.  Oh yes indeed.

The artwork I painstakingly created below shows my hopes for the next two days:

Hey, a girl can dream, can’t she?

The Food For Thought Festival is a really amazing event, and if you are in Madison you should swing by on Saturday and check it out!  Ann’s talk is at 10am, the Iron Chef competition starts around 11, and I believe she is signing books from 11-11:30am.  There is also a costume contest (food themed, of course), lots of things to sample, a sweet raffle…. and oh yeah, did I mention that the Dane County Farmers’ Market is going to be happening at the same time?

There are levels of awesome coming my way that I cannot even begin to comprehend.  I hope some of you, dear readers, will also be able to come!  If you have any questions about it, drop me an email or leave a comment. Hurray!
